History

North Vietnam was created after the end of French rule. It followed a communist system and sought to gain control over the southern part of the country. This led to a long and difficult struggle.

During the Vietnam War, North Vietnam received support from other communist nations. Their forces used secret paths through the jungle to move soldiers and supplies into the south. This strategy was very important for their efforts.

In 1975, North Vietnam successfully moved into the southern capital. This brought the long war to an end and united the country under one government. The nation eventually changed its name to simply Vietnam.
