History
During the Vietnam War, North Vietnamese military leaders wanted a way to inspire aggressive action and high morale among infantry soldiers and anti-aircraft crews. They introduced the 'Determined to Win' title and badge to reward fighters who met high combat standards.
The badge was awarded at the field level, making it quicker to receive than high state orders. Soldiers who shot down enemy planes, knocked out enemy vehicles, or held defensive lines received this badge during battlefront ceremonies.
Because so many frontline soldiers wore it on their olive green uniforms, it became one of the most recognizable North Vietnamese insignia of the war era. It remains a key piece of military history from the conflict.
