History
The Military Exploit Order was founded by the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1947 during the fight for independence from France. It was modeled on traditional military orders used by socialist partners to recognize battlefield commanders and fighters who inflicted heavy damage on the enemy.
The order was split into three classes, with the First Class being the highest honor. During the Vietnam War, officers received it for organizing victorious offensives, while frontline soldiers received it for daring assault actions under fire.
After North Vietnam reunited the country in 1976, the order remained in active use with minor changes to the medal's suspension ribbon design. It continues to be one of the country's most respected awards for battle success.
