History

The Viet Cong started as a group of rebels in the South. They wanted to take down the South Vietnamese government and bring communism to the entire country. They were very good at hiding in the jungle.

These fighters used special tactics like surprise attacks and traps. They would strike quickly and then disappear back into the forests or underground tunnels. This made it very difficult for the larger armies to find them.

Even though they faced strong opposition, the Viet Cong continued to fight throughout the war. They played a major role in the Tet Offensive. After the war, their fighters were combined into the national army.
