History

The OT-64 SKOT was an armored troop carrier built jointly by Poland and Czechoslovakia in the 1960s. The Polish military wanted a modern vehicle that could quickly carry an infantry squad into battle. It had eight driven wheels, which gave it great mobility over rough terrain, mud, and snow.

The SKOT was also amphibious, meaning it could swim across lakes and rivers using built-in water propellers without any bridge. Poland produced thousands of these vehicles during the Cold War to serve in motorized infantry units. They remained in front-line service for several decades until newer vehicles replaced them near the end of the Cold War era.
