History
This service medal was created by Polish law in 1951. It was designed to reward regular soldiers and civilian military workers for dedicated long careers in the armed forces. It was structured into gold, silver, and bronze classes based on the number of years served.
During the Cold War, it was one of the most common medals worn on Polish military uniforms. It rewarded disciplined, loyal service during decades of post-war rebuilding and military training exercises.
After democratic changes in 1990, the medal's design was updated to restore traditional Polish military symbols. It remains an active and respected award for career soldiers reaching important service milestones.
