History

Following World War I, Poland needed a standard rifle for its newly reunited army. Polish engineers based the Karabinek wz. 29 on the proven German Mauser bolt-action system. It was manufactured at the national arms plant in Radom and built to be strong, accurate, and easy to clean in the field.

The wz. 29 rifle served as the backbone of Polish infantry and cavalry units when World War II began. Soldiers fired powerful 7.92mm ammunition from five-round clips. Many captured rifles were later handed to German troops, while others were hidden away by Polish partisans to carry out surprise attacks during the occupation.
