History
Great Britain designed the Ferret in the late 1940s to explore rough roads and spot enemy movements quickly. Malaya and later Malaysia acquired dozens of these nimble vehicles during the Cold War. Their four-wheel drive allowed soldiers to cross muddy terrain and narrow forest tracks.
Malaysian Ferret crews protected supply convoys and guarded checkpoints throughout the 1960s and 1970s. The car had thick enough armor to bounce off small bullet fire and shrapnel. It remained a faithful training and patrol vehicle for several decades.
