Medals & Awards

History
The Pingat Jasa Malaysia was instituted on March 3, 2004, by the Government of Malaysia. It was established to honor Commonwealth and Malaysian soldiers who fought to protect the country's sovereignty during dangerous formative years.
The medal recognizes service during the Malayan Emergency and the Indonesia-Malaysia Confrontation between 1957 and 1966. Thousands of veteran soldiers from Malaysia, Australia, Britain, and New Zealand have been awarded this honor.
Unlike older medals created during active fighting, this medal serves as a historic thank-you from a grateful nation. It is widely cherished by veterans around the world who defended young Malaysia.
