History
The Darjah Kepahlawanan Angkatan Tentera was established on September 16, 1983, by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. It was created to provide a dedicated military order of chivalry modeled on classic honors, specifically recognizing military leadership rather than civilian civil service.
The order is divided into five distinct classes, ranging from Knight Grand Commander to Member. It replaced older practices of relying almost entirely on civilian knighthoods for top generals and admirals.
Over the decades, it has been conferred on senior commanders who modernised Malaysia's military forces, guided border defense, and coordinated major joint military operations.
