History

The T-72 tank was first created long ago, but the T-72B is a much improved version of that design. Laos received a number of these tanks from Russia around 2019. These tanks are famous for having thick armor and a very powerful cannon, which makes them very hard to beat in a ground fight. Adding these to the army changed how Laos protects its borders. Before these arrived, the army used older tanks that were getting difficult to repair. The T-72B is much easier to maintain for the modern army. Soldiers in the Lao tank units spend a lot of time learning how to drive these machines and aim the big gun correctly. They are often seen in big military parades in the capital city of Vientiane. These tanks represent the newer, stronger equipment that the Lao army has been adding to its ranks over the last few years.
