History
During World War II, Imperial Japanese forces moved across Southeast Asia and took control of Indochina in early 1945. Brave Laotian guerrilla fighters and French resistance soldiers worked together in dangerous mountain jungles to fight back against the occupation.
After the war ended, this medal was established to honor the courageous men and women who joined the resistance. It recognized those who gathered secret intelligence, guided Allied commandos, or engaged enemy patrols in combat.
The medal was presented to both Laotian volunteers and French military veterans. It holds a unique place in history as the primary medal commemorating Laos's struggle for liberation during World War II.
