History

The T-54 and its upgraded sibling, the T-55, were among the most widely built battle tanks in the world. The Soviet Union delivered them to communist forces in Laos to upgrade their armored units with modern firepower.

With low profiles and solid steel protection, these tanks gave Laotian crews strong defenses against rival armored vehicles. They were used to guard government headquarters, patrol key roads, and enforce border defenses.

Throughout the Cold War period, the T-54/55 formed the backbone of the armored units in Laos. They proved to be long-lasting vehicles that stayed in Laotian service for decades.
