History

In the 1930s, the Belgian Army needed a way to protect its borders against modern enemy tanks while keeping to a purely defensive military strategy. They took light, tracked artillery-towing tractors bought from Britain and built an armored fighting compartment on top.

The T-13 carried a powerful Belgian 47mm anti-tank gun mounted inside an armored turret. The vehicle went through three production versions, with the T-13 B3 being the most common by 1940. It gave Belgian mountain troops and cavalry mobile firepower.

During the German invasion in May 1940, T-13s fought bravely and knocked out many German tanks. However, their armor was very thin and left the crew exposed to artillery and machine guns, and most were destroyed or captured during the fighting.
