History
The Steyr SSG 69 was designed in the late 1960s to be a very accurate rifle for snipers. It was one of the first rifles to use synthetic parts like plastic stocks, which made it lighter and easier to carry in the rain or snow. It became famous for being very reliable and precise at long distances. Soon after it was made, many different countries decided to buy it for their own soldiers and police officers. It proved that bolt-action rifles were still very useful even as newer, faster weapons were being invented. Because it was so well-built, it stayed in production for many decades and served in a wide variety of roles across different climates. Even today, it is remembered as a classic weapon that changed how sniper rifles were built, moving away from heavy wood to modern materials that last longer.
