History
The Nagapasa-class submarines were built to improve Indonesia's ability to watch over its vast ocean territory. These ships are based on a design from South Korea. They are known for being very quiet, which makes them hard for enemies to detect under the water.
The first of these submarines arrived in Indonesia in 2017. They replaced much older submarines that had been in service for decades. These ships carry modern torpedoes and can launch them at ships or other submarines if they are ever needed for defense.
These submarines represent a big step forward for the Indonesian Navy. By owning these ships, Indonesia can stay safer and protect its natural resources. The submarines are regularly used for training and patrols to make sure the seas remain peaceful.
