History
The Mosin-Nagant was first created for the Russian Empire in 1891 and updated in 1930. Millions of these bolt-action rifles were built and used against invading armies during World War II.
When North Korea built its armed forces, the Soviet Union sent trainloads of surplus Mosin-Nagants to arm infantry units. The rifle was very tough and could keep firing even in extreme mud, dust, and freezing winter snow.
During the Korean War, many North Korean marksmen also used scoped versions as sniper rifles. It remained a primary frontline rifle until semiautomatic carbines and assault rifles replaced it later in the Cold War.
