History
In the late 1970s, West Germany developed the Leopard 2 to face new, heavily armored Soviet tanks. Unlike earlier models, this vehicle combined thick advanced composite armor with incredible engine power, allowing it to move fast across rough battlefields while keeping soldiers safe inside.
It was equipped with a deadly 120-millimeter smoothbore gun and computer-guided targeting systems. West German crews could fire accurately even while driving at top speeds. The Leopard 2 set the standard for modern main battle tanks and remained on high alert throughout the end of the Cold War.
