History
The Ariete C1 is the only main battle tank made in Italy. Designers wanted a tank that could move fast but also have thick armor for protection. It was built to keep up with other modern tanks used by NATO countries. The tank carries a powerful cannon that can hit targets from far away. It was created to replace older tanks that were getting too slow and outdated for modern warfare. The name Ariete means Battering Ram in Italian. The tank is equipped with computer systems that help the crew aim at enemies very quickly even while driving over bumpy ground. It is an important part of the Italian Army today and shows how Italy builds its own heavy machines.
