Historia
Lewis gun został opracowany podczas I wojny światowej i pozostał ważną bronią obronną przez cały okres II wojny światowej. W Singapurze lokalne siły ochotnicze i bataliony obrony wybrzeża używały tych chłodzonych powietrzem karabinów maszynowych do ochrony plaż, pasów startowych i dróg miejskich.
Broń ta posiadała charakterystyczną osłonę lufy oraz zamontowany na górze okrągły magazynek bębnowy. Żołnierze-ochotnicy intensywnie ćwiczyli strzelanie z Lewis gun, aby walczyć z nadlatującymi japońskimi samolotami i oddziałami desantowymi podczas kampanii w lutym 1942 roku, zanim twierdza upadła.
