History
Thailand was one of the first nations in Asia to send combat troops to support South Korea after the Korean War broke out in 1950. The Thai government instituted this Victory Medal in 1953 to honor its expeditionary troops.
The medal was awarded to the soldiers of the 21st Royal Thai Regiment, as well as naval crews and transport pilots who deployed overseas. Thai troops earned the famous nickname 'Little Tigers' for their fierce combat performance on Pork Chop Hill.
Over ten thousand Thai service members received this award for their deployment. It remains a proud symbol of Thailand's post-war alliance with international partners.
