History
The Franco-Thai War Victory Medal was instituted in 1941 under the government of Prime Minister Plaek Phibunsongkhram. It was created to commemorate the border clashes between Thailand and Vichy French forces in Indochina.
The decoration celebrated Thailand's military efforts along the Mekong frontier and in disputed border provinces. It featured national and military emblems symbolizing the defense of Thai territorial claims.
Following the conflict, thousands of soldiers, sailors, and pilots received this campaign medal. The victory was commemorated nationally with Bangkok's famous Victory Monument.
