History
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal was created to honor personnel who commit their lives to maintaining law, border safety, and civil defense. It evolved directly from earlier British colonial police medals that served the British Solomon Islands Protectorate. Following independence, the medal was adapted with national insignias and ribbons to reflect sovereignty under the Crown.
Receiving the award requires an unblemished conduct record over eighteen years of active duty. Additional clasps are awarded for subsequent periods of service. During civil crises, these veteran officers formed the core leadership that held police stations and maritime vessels together.
