History
The Naval Forces Medal (Nut al-Bahriyyah) was created to reward distinguished service and operational achievement at sea. It was established as part of the Kingdom's effort to recognize branch-specific heroism and professional performance.
The medal features maritime motifs, including anchors and traditional sailing imagery, suspended from a ribbon using maritime colors. It is issued in multiple grades to acknowledge both officers and enlisted sailors.
The medal saw significant use during coastal defense and minesweeping operations in the Persian Gulf in 1991, as well as naval blockade and sea-lane protection operations in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden during recent campaigns.
