History
King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) instituted the Dushdi Mala Medal in 1882 to celebrate the centennial of the Chakri Dynasty. It was crafted to honor outstanding contributions to the defense, stability, and modernization of Siam.
The award was separated into categories, including a military division for notable services to the nation. It functioned as an elite bridge between ordinary campaign medals and senior knightly orders.
Throughout the 20th century, top defense leaders and senior commanders received this medal for advancing national security. Today, it remains one of Thailand's most revered decorations for distinguished national service.
