History
The Medal of the Falcon of Aviation (Nut Saqr al-Jaww), also known as the Air Falcon Medal, was instituted to recognize specialized achievements in aviation. As the Royal Saudi Air Force expanded with modern fighter jets, this decoration was introduced to honor aircrews.
The medal displays an aerial falcon motif, symbolizing sharpness, speed, and mastery of the skies in traditional Arabian culture. It comes in multiple classes depending on the airman's rank and achievement level.
It was actively awarded during the Gulf War of 1991, when Saudi fighter pilots flew combat air patrols and strike missions alongside coalition air forces, and during modern aerial campaigns over the Arabian Peninsula.
