History
The Maritime Division is a branch of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force. Their job is to look after the large areas of ocean that belong to the islands. Since the islands are spread out across a large area, this unit is very important for safety.
This unit was formed to handle duties that a navy would perform in other countries. Because the Solomon Islands does not have a formal navy, the police take on the responsibility of defending the coastline. They are responsible for stopping smugglers and people who fish illegally.
Today, the division works closely with other countries to learn new skills. They use modern patrol boats to travel long distances and stay safe while on the water. They are the primary protectors of the country's sea territory.
