History

The Queen's Cobras were created in 1967 as a special volunteer unit from the Royal Thai Army. They were formed specifically to join the fight in Vietnam. The Thai government wanted to show support for its allies and help keep the region stable against outside threats.

Once they arrived in South Vietnam, the unit was based at Bearcat Base. They worked closely with United States troops to patrol the countryside and protect important roads. They were known for being disciplined and brave soldiers while operating in difficult jungle conditions.

In 1968, the unit finished its mission and returned home to Thailand. Many of the soldiers were later moved into the larger Black Panther Division. Their service marked a significant moment for Thai military cooperation with Western nations during the Cold War era.
