History
The USS Ohio was the first of its kind. It was originally built to carry big nuclear missiles during the Cold War. It spent most of its time hidden deep under the waves, ready to protect the country if needed.
Later, the Navy changed the ship so it could carry regular missiles instead. This made it very useful for different types of missions. It can stay underwater for months at a time without coming up for air.
Today, it is known as a guided missile submarine. It is one of the biggest submarines ever built. It helps the Navy keep watch over the oceans and carries secret equipment to help other soldiers.
