History
The Norwegian Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System, or NASAMS, was designed to keep Norway safe from air attacks. It was created in the 1990s as a way to replace older systems. Engineers wanted a weapon that could be moved quickly on trucks and used many different types of missiles.
Norway worked with the American company Raytheon to build this system. It uses a very powerful radar to spot targets far away. Once a target is found, the system can fire a missile to destroy it before it reaches the ground.
Today, many countries use NASAMS because it works very well. It is known for being reliable and smart. It helps soldiers defend important places like airports or military camps from high-flying threats in the sky.
