History

HDMS Olfert Fischer was a Niels Juel-class corvette built in Denmark for coastal patrol and escort missions. Even though it was a small warship compared to giant destroyers, it was packed with anti-ship missiles, torpedoes, and rapid-fire guns.

When Iraq invaded Kuwait, the Danish Parliament voted to send the Olfert Fischer to join the international coalition during the Gulf War. In the Persian Gulf, the ship helped stop and inspect cargo vessels to enforce trade bans against Iraq, marking Denmark's major naval contribution to the coalition.
