在20世纪30年代，比利时军队需要一种能够在坚持纯防御军事战略的同时，抵御敌方现代化坦克侵略边境的方法。他们购自英国的轻型履带式火炮牵引车，并在其顶部加装了装甲战斗室。
T-13 在装甲炮塔内搭载了一门强力的比利时制 47mm 反坦克炮。该车经历了三个生产版本，其中 T-13 B3 是 1940 年时最常见的型号。它为比利时山地部队和骑兵部队提供了机动的火力支援。
在 1940 年 5 月德国入侵期间，T-13 英勇作战并击毁了许多德国坦克。然而，它们的装甲非常薄，导致车组成员容易受到火炮和机枪的攻击，大部分车辆在战斗中被摧毁或缴获。
