在20世纪60年代末，马来西亚皇家空军购买了经过改装的加拿大喷气式教练机，并将其命名为Tebuan，在马来语中意为“大黄蜂”。这是一个巨大的进步，因为它让马来西亚在冷战期间具备了喷气式打击能力。
这种飞机在训练新喷气式飞行员的同时，还可以装备炸弹、火箭弹和机枪。马来西亚飞行中队驾驶Tebuan来保卫国家边界和遥远的海岸。它在培养了一整代军事飞行员后，于20世纪80年代退役。
