Lịch sử
Được thiết kế gần cuối Thế chiến I bởi nhà phát minh vũ khí nổi tiếng John Browning, M2 được đưa vào sử dụng rộng rãi từ năm 1933. Nó được chế tạo để bắn loại đạn cỡ .50 có khả năng vô hiệu hóa các phương tiện nhẹ và máy bay.
Trong Thế chiến II, loại vũ khí này được gắn trên xe tăng, xe jeep, máy bay ném bom và tàu tuần tra của tất cả các lực lượng Đồng minh. Sức công phá lớn và tầm bắn xa của nó khiến các lực lượng đối phương phải khiếp sợ.
'Ma Deuce' chứng tỏ sự bền bỉ và hiệu quả đến mức các quốc gia Đồng minh và NATO đã duy trì nó trong chiến đấu mà không cần thiết kế lại đáng kể suốt cuộc chiến tranh Triều Tiên, chiến tranh Việt Nam và toàn bộ thời kỳ Chiến tranh Lạnh.
