ประวัติ
ในช่วงทศวรรษ 1970 กองทัพสเปนต้องการรถลำเลียงพลที่ทันสมัยและรวดเร็วซึ่งผลิตโดยอุตสาหกรรมภายในประเทศ บริษัทผลิตยานยนต์สัญชาติสเปน Pegaso ได้สร้างยานเกราะหกล้อที่มีความทนทาน ซึ่งสามารถขับเคลื่อนบนถนนลาดยางและสนามดินได้อย่างง่ายดาย BMR-600 เริ่มเข้าประจำการในแนวหน้าของกองทัพสเปนในปี 1979 ในช่วงที่สงครามเย็นกำลังตึงเครียด ยานเกราะรุ่นนี้ใช้เกราะอลูมิเนียมทำมุมเพื่อปกป้องทหารภายในจากกระสุนปืนเล็กและสะเก็ดระเบิด นอกจากนี้ยังสามารถสะเทินน้ำสะเทินบกได้ ทำให้ทหารสามารถลอยข้ามแม่น้ำได้โดยใช้เวลาเตรียมตัวเพียงเล็กน้อย
