歴史
冷戦中、中国人民解放軍海軍は、敵対的な海軍から中国の長い海岸線を守ることに重点を置いていました。1960年代、中国の造船所はType 037を設計・建造しました。これは西側の観測筋からはHainan-class submarine chaserと呼ばれていました。この船は、それまでの古いソ連製哨戒艇を置き換えることを目的としていました。
これらの小型軍艦は高速で小回りが利き、爆雷、ロケットランチャー、自動砲で武装していました。水中を隠れる敵の潜水艦を探知し、重要な港を守るように設計されました。冷戦の間、Type 037哨戒艇は中国の海洋境界を警備し、南シナ海での海軍の小競り合いにも参加しました。100隻以上が建造され、アジアの海でよく見かける船となりました。
