歴史
1949年、韓国には海岸線を守るためのまともな軍艦がありませんでした。海軍兵士や市民が寄付金を集め、韓国海軍は元アメリカ軍の非武装の哨戒艇を購入しました。彼らはハワイまでこの船を運航し、アメリカ製の3インチ砲と弾薬を搭載して、ROKS Baekdusanと名付けました。
1950年6月25日の朝鮮戦争開戦の夜、ROKS Baekdusanは重要な港湾都市である釜山近くに数百人の敵軍コマンドを上陸させようとしていた、大型の敵武装輸送船を迎撃しました。ROKS Baekdusanは対馬海戦において敵船を撃沈することに成功し、港を守り、重要な国際補給線を守り抜きました。
