歴史
MiG-21は、冷戦時代を通して最も有名なジェット戦闘機のひとつです。ソビエト連邦で設計され、音速の2倍以上の速さで飛び、敵の飛行機を迎え撃つために急上昇することができました。
1970年代後半から1980年代にかけて、ソビエト連邦は空軍を近代化するため、ラオスにMiG-21戦闘機を供給しました。ラオスのパイロットたちは、この高速ジェット機の訓練を受けるために海外へ渡り、その後、自国へと持ち帰りました。
国の限られた予算や整備の難しさから、ハイテクな超音速ジェット機を飛ばし続けることは大変でしたが、MiG-21は冷戦後期のラオスにとって最強の防空能力となりました。
