歴史
M8 Greyhoundは、第二次世界大戦中にアメリカ軍が本隊の先頭を偵察するために開発しました。6輪駆動の車体で舗装道路を速く走ることができ、銃弾を防ぐ装甲も備えていました。
コロンビアは冷戦時代に、アメリカとの軍事援助条約を通じてM8 Greyhoundを手に入れました。コロンビアの騎兵隊は、長い高速道路の警備や、大切な飛行場の防衛、へき地のパトロールなどに使いました。
戦車のような厚い装甲はありませんでしたが、M8 Greyhoundはコロンビアの険しい地形に適していました。トラックと同じシンプルなエンジンだったので、狭い山道でも運転しやすく、整備も簡単でした。
