湾岸戦争の後、クウェートは将来のどんな脅威にも立ち向かえる強い陸軍を作りたいと考えました。いくつかある選択肢の中から、最終的にアメリカ製のM1A2 Abramsが選ばれました。この戦車はとても頑丈で、遠くにいる敵を見つけるための高性能な照準器が付いていることで有名です。1990年代半ばに、古い装備と入れ替える形で届けられました。新しい戦車が届いたとき、兵士たちは戦車の動かし方やメンテナンスの方法をたくさん学ばなければなりませんでした。これらはクウェートが過去に使っていた戦車よりもずっと進んでいます。この戦車は、動いている間でも正確に射撃できる大きな大砲を持っています。これは、攻撃してくる相手にとって非常に恐ろしい特別な機能です。クウェートの兵士たちは、どんな任務にも対応できるように、砂漠でこの戦車を使った練習をしています。M1A2は、難しい戦いの最中でも乗組員を安全に守ることで知られています。今日では、クウェート陸軍の主力戦車となっています。
