Lee-Enfield No. 4は、第二次世界大戦中、ヨーロッパの戦場でカナダ兵が使用した主要な個人用兵器です。頑丈で信頼性が高く、深い泥の中や激しい雨、凍えるような寒さの中でも故障することなく作動しました。カナダのオンタリオ州ロングブランチにあるSmall Arms Limitedなどの工場では、連合国軍のために何十万丁ものライフルが生産されました。兵士たちはこのライフルを愛用しました。その理由は、ボルト操作が滑らかで素早く撃てること、そして当時の多くの敵のライフルと比べて2倍の10発の弾薬を装填できたからです。第二次世界大戦後、カナダ軍は朝鮮戦争でも再びこの信頼できるLee-Enfieldを手に戦いました。カナダ軍が冷戦初期に現代的な自動小銃へ移行し始めるまで、このライフルは前線で使い続けられました。
