歴史
Jean Bartは、1940年にドイツがフランスへ侵攻した際、建造中だった巨大なフランスの戦艦です。ドイツ軍の手に渡らないよう、フランスの乗組員たちは未完成の船を急いでモロッコのカサブランカまで運ばせました。その巨大な主砲塔のうち、完成して動くのは1基だけでした。
ヴィシー政権下のフランスが管理する中、この船は浮き砲台としてカサブランカ港に停泊していました。1942年11月のOperation Torchの際、連合国海軍がモロッコ沖に到着しました。Jean Bartは港を守るため、アメリカ艦隊に向けて巨大な15-inch砲弾を放ちました。
戦艦USS Massachusettsを含むアメリカの軍艦は反撃し、Jean Bartに何度も命中弾を与えました。急降下爆撃機も爆弾を投下したため、船はひどく損傷して座礁してしまいました。戦後、フランス海軍は船を完全に修理し、完成させました。
