歴史
1980年代後半、クウェートはソ連からBMP-2歩兵戦闘車を購入しました。クウェートは、さまざまな国の装備品を取り入れて軍事力のバランスを保ちたいと考えていました。BMP-2は水陸両用で、最新の兵器を備えていました。1990年のイラク侵攻時、クウェート軍のBMP-2は、双方が同じようなソ連製車両を使用していたため、珍しい戦況に直面しました。クウェート軍兵士は、都市部や砂漠での待ち伏せ攻撃の際、BMP-2の連射式30mm機関砲を使って敵部隊と戦いました。一部の車両は侵攻してきたイラク軍に奪われましたが、生き残った車両はクウェート軍で再編成されました。1991年以降、クウェートはBMP-2を機械化歩兵の主力戦闘車両として使い続けました。
