第二次世界大戦中のドイツによる占領下で、ポーランドの地下組織である国内軍は、戦うための自動小銃を必要としていました。外部からの武器供給が少なかったため、ポーランドの技術者たちは極秘で独自の短機関銃を設計しました。彼らはそれを、ポーランド語で「稲妻」を意味するBlyskawicaと名付けました。
この銃は、敵に怪しまれることなく、小さな隠れ工房や自転車修理店で部品を作れるよう慎重に設計されていました。敵のパトロール隊の目の前で、700挺以上の単純な構造の銃が製造されました。レジスタンスの戦士たちは、1944年のワルシャワ蜂起における激しい市街戦で、この銃を多用しました。
