Histoire
Le Westland Commando était une variante britannique améliorée de l'hélicoptère Sea King, construit sans flotteurs afin de pouvoir transporter des troupes au sol. Le Qatar a acheté plusieurs variantes dans les années 1970 et 1980 pour des missions utilitaires, le transport de troupes et des frappes anti-navires.
Au cours de la guerre du Golfe, les Westland Commando qatariens ont effectué des vols de patrouille maritime et des tâches logistiques. Ils ont aidé à déplacer le personnel et à surveiller le littoral pour détecter les menaces maritimes tout au long du conflit.
