Historia
El Douglas C-47 Skytrain fue desarrollado a partir del avión de pasajeros civil DC-3 y entró en servicio militar en 1941. Rápidamente demostró ser uno de los aviones de transporte bimotores más fiables y versátiles jamás construidos.
En el Día D, en junio de 1944, los C-47 lanzaron a miles de paracaidistas aliados detrás de las líneas enemigas en Normandía. En el Pacífico y Asia, volaron peligrosas rutas de suministro sobre las montañas del Himalaya para entregar ayuda a las fuerzas chinas que luchaban contra las unidades del Eje.
El C-47 voló durante décadas después de la guerra. Transportó alimentos durante el Puente Aéreo de Berlín en 1948, llevó suministros en la Guerra de Corea e incluso sirvió como cañonero armado durante la Guerra de Vietnam.
