History

In late 2004, an enormous earthquake and tsunami caused catastrophic damage throughout Southeast Asia. Singapore launched Operation Flying Eagle, which was the largest overseas military humanitarian deployment in the nation's history.

In 2005, the Singapore Armed Forces created the Tsunami Relief Operation Medal to recognize the thousands of personnel who rushed to aid victims in Indonesia and Thailand. The medal remains a proud symbol of rapid lifesaving support across the region.
