History

The Order of Shaja'at, which means Courage, was established to reward distinct individual acts of bravery. Created to inspire soldiers facing perilous combat encounters, it filled the need for an intermediate medal below supreme leadership orders.

The decoration highlights personal initiative, selfless action, and standing firm against armed adversaries. It features traditional geometric Islamic art motifs and bold heraldic colors.

Throughout the Iran-Iraq War, many infantrymen and pilots were granted the medal for heroic rescues and daring assaults. It remains an active and respected award for courage today.
