History
The Order of Sepah was established in 1924 by Reza Shah during the founding era of modern Iran's unified armed forces. It replaced earlier informal tribal and imperial ribbons to bring standard European-style awards into the army.
The medal was awarded in three classes and recognized extraordinary acts of military service, defensive leadership, and successful campaign commands. It featured swords and traditional emblems symbolizing military might and the army's authority.
The Order of Sepah was discontinued following the 1979 revolution when the monarchy ended. However, it remains a critical historical decoration from Iran's interwar and World War II periods.
