Medals & Awards

History
Created during the Pahlavi dynasty in 1937, the Order of Military Merit was established to reward officers who demonstrated stellar leadership and long devotion to duty. It was designed to resemble modern European merit orders with stars and ribbons.
The decoration had multiple grades and came with both a sash or neck ribbon depending on class. It was commonly conferred upon officers who completed difficult staff work or modernized training doctrines.
The order was abolished in 1979 following the collapse of the imperial government. Surviving examples are preserved in museums and private collections as key relics of Iran's mid-century military history.
